The Republic, a noted original in bronze and marble by Daniel Chester French, sculptor of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.
Across from The Republic stands George Washington by John Quincy Adams Ward, acclaimed as the finest sculptural likeness of our first president. It was originally commissioned by Congress for the Capitol. But due to an oversight, appropriation was never made, and Forest Lawn thus obtained the distinguished work.
The Signing of the Declaration of Independence is a mosaic reproduction of the famous painting by John Trumbull in the rotunda of the Capitol in Washington. Composed of 700,000 pieces of Venetian glass tile, it is three times the size of the original.
